developing the FCP help avatar
I have decided to use the shape tweening to animated the photos – but will insert an number of stills at various points in the timeline to slow down the movement, inserting the explainations and illustrations at the relevent points.
I have animated at 0ne frame a second but by inserting more un tweened frames and making the cartoon more detailed I think the flow will be improved. In the making of scanner darkly the rotoscoping artists discussed the need for a style sheet for all the teams to work by. I wil therefore break down the still into important elements and ensure that those are consistently mapped.

success at shape tweening
More thoughts over night about streamlining the animation process. I have to get the animation to work without the use of symbols. I have managed to get it working now by tweening the drawings as shapes.
I am thinking of shooting the sequences as 10 second rants at 25 fps. Editing them in FCP. Then exporting as image sequences. I will then select particular frames and bring them into flash. I will then re sync them in flash and shape tween the intermediate frames. It might work…
I need to borrow a Wacom tablet I think!
getting into web 2.0
I have been on a frenzy of exploration of new ‘web 2.0’ discovery. I am experimenting with google apps – the video and picture uploaders.
this should be a test picture – taken by a friend with a pin hole camera. OK just checked and it seems to have worked OK. The videos have not yet worked so well. The photo uploaders neat though.
development of personal project
I have finally managed to produce 10 simple pieces of advice for the use of final cut pro – it includes some pointers on editing and content too. I have a list of lssues that I know are common amougst novice users and I have aimed the advice at these people.
The question is now how best to animated this. Martin has suggested that I base the avatar on myself. Well I might not be photogenic but I am easy to photofraph! I had thought of using a mac book pro with photo booth. But now I suspect that I don’t need to get so complicated.
I plan to take a number of stills, bring them into flash and over draw them very quickly to produce outline faces. I will then motion or shape tween between these.
I have experimented with this tonight but my flash skills are poor and I haven’t managed to get the tweens to work.
